Link: http://www.eia.org/
Category: Main > Organizations

Summary:

The Electronic Industries Alliance is a trade organization representing the United States high technology community, sponsoring technical standards development, market analysis, government relations, trade shows and seminar programs.

Description:

The Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) is a national trade organization that includes the full spectrum of U.S. manufacturers. The Alliance is a partnership of electronic and high-tech associations and companies whose mission is promoting the market development and competitiveness of the U.S. high-tech industry through domestic and international policy efforts. EIA, headquartered in Arlington, Va., comprises more than 2,500 member companies whose products and services range from the smallest electronic components to the most complex systems used by defense, space and industry, including the full range of consumer electronic products.

The progressive structure of the Alliance enables each sector association to preserve unique autonomy while uniting in common cause under EIA. EIA represents the Alliance on issues that the entire industry agrees are imperative to the success of high technology in the U.S. Our issue areas are forward-thinking, broad and market based, giving us the ability to advocate policy positions for the entire industry and ensuring our continued strength in the global economy. EIA focuses on the areas of innovation & world-wide sourcing, international trade and market access; the environment; broadband; and Internet security.

EIA is the only high-tech trade association that helps members navigate the array of global environmental policy issues affecting their ability to manufacture, market and sell their products. Our Environmental Issues Council leads the electronics industry in addressing national and international environmental policies surrounding our products.

EIA is also the only high-tech trade association that brings together members of the electronics industry, Fortune 500, e-commerce and Internet security arenas. Through a collaborative effort wth Carnegie Mellon"s CERT/CC, , the Internet Security Alliance was established. Assisting EIA in filling the void for an industry-led, global, cross-sector network focused on advancing the security and survivability of the Internet. Members of the Internet Security Alliance represent every sector of industry.

Technology & Standards
Welcome to the EIA Technology Strategy and Standards Department web site. If you are a regular visitor to the site you will notice a number of changes and enhancements. This site will continuously evolve into what we trust you will find to be a key conduit for technology and standards information for the electronics industry. Hotlinks to information germane to a subject will frequently be employed so that the information will be as current as the source from which it came. You may notice that some of the areas are for committee members only and require a password. If you would like more information on how to get involved in some of the committee work, please contact us.

Accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), EIA provides a forum for industry to develop standards and publications in our major technical areas: electronic components, consumer electronics, electronic information, telecommunications, and Internet security. The department also administrates the EIA Technology Council; a body of member companies that explores how emerging technologies potentially will affect segments of the electronics industry. The Council is also involved in creating a technology roadmap for the Alliance.
