Press Release

Eagleware Announces Shipment of GENESYS 2004

Norcross, GA – Eagleware Corporation, a leading supplier of high-frequency design software for the RF and microwave industry, announces the shipment of the latest version of their popular suite of design software for RF and microwave engineers, GENESYS 2004. This release includes many new features such as new synthesis topologies for filters and oscillators, LDMOS models, RF architecture simulation enhancements, and integrated component libraries. In addition, the core design environment has been enhanced with enterprise-level features, including an XML library manager, Visual Basic scripting, rich text editing, graph annotations, an Agilent ADS interface, and enhanced language support of Simplified Chinese.

New Oscillator and Filter Synthesis Topologies
The Oscillator Synthesis module in GENESYS enables designers to quickly select, tune, and
develop oscillators from a selection of 17 topologies. GENESYS 2004 updates the Synthesis module with two new oscillator configurations. A completely new class of oscillator is supported: the LC Hybrid, developed by Eagleware’s founder Randy Rhea, features rapid startup characteristics and excellent harmonic performance. In addition, a negative conductance VCO is now available for frequencies above 200 MHz requiring octave tuning.

Two new microwave filter topologies have been added to the M/FILTER synthesis program. Step penetrating lowpass features a space-saving topology that organizes stepped impedance lines to minimize space, providing designers with improved size reduction. Quarter wave coupled bandpass, based on quarter wavelength resonators, gives the designer complete freedom and control over resonator parameters, including impedance, to produce filters with bandwidths up to 100%.

GENESYS 2004 also includes a new passive filer topology. The top-C TEM resonator bandpass topology makes use of traditional capacitively coupled LC resonator filter design with the resonators replaced by transmission line resonators. Ceramic transmission lines are excellent candidates for this filter because they provide a physically small structure with excellent Q values.

Updated LDMOS Models
The popular Motorola library of LDMOS devices has been expanded with 17 new parts. In addition, a number of existing models have been upgraded. In total, there are now 89 LDMOS models for both single and dual devices for push-pull operation.

RF Architecture Simulation Enhancements
GENESYS 2004 adds new features and a host of improvements to SPECTRASYS, Eagleware’s fullspectrum simulator. Included are an active frequency divider, new filter models that include the effects of Q, faster calculation speeds, a new error message that identifies potential stability problems in the RF architecture, and the ability to graph any sweep of a SPECTRASYS path measurement at any node in the schematic. Improvements have also been made to the log detector, LO harmonics in the Table Mixer, phase accuracy in multipliers and dividers, and more.

Integrated Component Libraries
Thousands of components from 16 vendors are now available within the GENESYS part selector. Using the part selector, it is easy to pick parts based on parameters such as bias values, package size, and tolerance. In addition, GENESYS Enterprise customers can easily copy parts from the vendor libraries into custom libraries for sharing across workgroups.

Enhanced Design Environment
With GENESYS 2004, the core design environment now includes enterprise-level features such as an XML library manager, COM scripting (Visual Basic, Java, and others), and an Agilent ADS interface. Productivity is improved by using these features to create custom libraries, write scripts to automate repetitive tasks, and export schematics generated from the range of GENESYS synthesis products into the Agilent ADS design environment.

Graph annotation, rich text editing, and a Simplified Chinese-language version further enrich the environment. Graph annotation permits the user to create more detailed and graphic documentation of designs and measurements by including text and custom images such as logos, color-fills, and basic shapes. Rich text editing, now available in GENESYS notes pages, permits text to be styled and formatted in a workspace for enhanced documentation and easy export to reports and data sheets. Finally, GENESYS is now more accessible than ever for Eagleware’s international clients with the availability of menus, dialogs, and error messages in Simplified Chinese.

Additional Improvements
GENESYS 2004 includes numerous additional improvements to make your job easier, including nonlinear elements in SPICE output, 7 new complex-waveform examples, additional startup options and more.

GENESYS 2004 is the latest release of Eagleware’s suite of integrated design tools, including
schematic entry and layout, synthesis, circuit theory simulation, nonlinear simulation,
electromagnetic simulation, and system-architecture simulation and optimization. To learn more about GENESYS 2004, visit: http://www.eagleware.com.
