PCB and Electronics News FishTail Joins Mentor Graphics' OpenDoor Program and the ModelSim Value Added Partnership Program; Focus interfaces with ModelSim and 0-In Products PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 11, 2005--FishTail Design Automation, Inc., the golden timing constraints company, today announced that it has joined both Mentor Graphics (Nasdaq:MENT) OpenDoor Program and the ModelSim Value Added Partnership Program. The memberships will provide joint customers with integration between FishTail's Focus(TM) and Mentor Graphics(R) 0-In(R) and ModelSim(R) products. "Our customers have articulated the importance of being able to leverage their investment in simulation and property-checking tools to also verify timing exceptions," stated Ajay Daga, founder and CEO of FishTail. "Being a part of Mentor's partner programs has allowed us to build a robust interface for the assertion-based verification of timing exceptions using ModelSim and 0-In. The interface is available today." Focus automatically generates timing exceptions from synthesizable RTL. In addition, Focus also generates assertions that justify why a false-path or multi-cycle path definition is correct. These assertions may be generated for the timing exceptions produced by Focus, as well as for user-specified timing exceptions. The Focus-generated assertions can then be verified using simulation or property-checking tools from Mentor Graphics. "We are pleased to add FishTail to our list of partners to drive improved design and verification value for our mutual customers," said Dennis Brophy, director of strategic business development. "Interoperable verification solutions, supported by our value added partnership program, are a must to address the growth in verification complexity." "0-In products provide exhaustive, formal verification technology and methodology that guarantees zero functional errors," said Steven D. White, general manager of Mentor Graphics' 0-In Functional Verification Business Unit. "The application of 0-In's technology to validate static timing constraints, automatically generated by FishTail's Focus product, provides our mutual customers a compelling solution for achieving timing closure." About the programs Mentor Graphics maintains the OpenDoor Program as a mechanism to promote and distribute the development of interfaces among interested vendors of EDA software. OpenDoor provides access to a diverse number of partner companies that offer well integrated, leading edge software solutions that complement the Mentor Graphics suite of tools in all aspects of the design process. The ModelSim Value Added Partnership (VAP) program was established to bring customers world-class product integrations and interoperability. ModelSim partners with electronic design automation companies to integrate their tools and technology with ModelSim to meet the interoperability needs of its customers. More about Focus FishTail's Focus(TM) product solves the time-consuming problem of poor chip-implementation results because of missing or incorrect timing exceptions by formally identifying false and multi-cycle paths early in the design cycle - before virtual prototyping and logic synthesis. Using only the synthesizable description and clock definitions, Focus automatically generates the timing exceptions for the design in standard SDC file format for use by downstream implementation tools. About FishTail Design Automation Founded in 2002, FishTail Design Automation has set its sights on tackling the difficult problem of precise constraints on chip timing - the area where the success or failure of a design is ultimately determined. The company's patented technology improves chip implementation by automatically identifying exceptions to single-cycle clocking from RTL descriptions. FishTail is privately funded. But don't panic, our old friend the telephone has come to the rescue. We're all aware of the problem of identity theft, but did you know that your local pizza chain has had a solution for years? You recognize it as the system that prevents little Johnny from having twenty pizzas delivered to your door at midnight: the pizza chain calls you immediately after the order is placed to verify the validity of the order. Because little Johnny is afraid to be caught, he'll think twice about causing this pizza-related havoc. TeleSign's patent-pending verification system has transferred this pizza concept to the high-tech world. It works like this: after filling out a form on a website, the user is prompted to enter his phone number. A robotic system then places a call to that number and speaks aloud a unique three digit code. Once that code is entered into the website, the authentication is complete. This system can be implemented at any point on a website: at registration, purchase, a specific time interval, or at the request of a user. Email verification is the current standard for user authentication, but email may end up filtered, junked, bulked, or trashed. Because of spam, viruses, and phishing, email filtering has become so aggressive that even legitimate emails don't reach the inbox. But a telephone call cannot be stopped, making this the perfect time for the introduction of TeleSigns solution. The future of ecommerce is threatened by rampant fraud and lack of trust. TeleSign will force anonymous users to expose their faces by revealing their working phone numbers. To try an interactive demo, visit (http://www.telesign.com/demo2/demo.asp) and have your phone ready.
