OCZ Technology Group, Inphi Corporation Introduce Zero-Buffer DDR Technology For Unbuffered Memory Modules

SUNNYVALE, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Oct. 6, 2004 -- OCZ Technology Group, a world leader in innovative, ultra-high performance and high-reliability memory, in a collaborative effort with Inphi(R) Corporation (www.inphi-corp.com), a leader in precision timing and high-speed electronic components, announced the release of Zero-Buffer DDR (ZB-DDR) technology (patent pending) for unbuffered memory modules.

Using discreet zero-delay clock buffers, ZB-DDR technology combines the robustness of server class memory with the low latency of unbuffered modules, resulting in better data integrity, lower noise, and lower susceptibility to interference over a wider frequency spectrum while still remaining fully compatible with all current motherboards.

"At the module level, only with a clock buffer delay at 50 picoseconds or less, is it possible to generate loss-less memory clock signals that are not subjected to the impact of noise found in a distributed clock tree," said Dr. Michael Schuette, director of technology development at OCZ Technology.

ZB-DDR technology uses the state of the art Inphi INCU 877 clock buffers with a custom-developed PCB matched to the impedance of the clock buffer. "We are very pleased to have OCZ as a partner in this pioneering hi-tech endeavor," commented Desi Rhoden, executive vice president of Inphi Corporation. "Precision clock signals provided by our clock buffers are the key to signal integrity and minimized error rates."

Majority of PCB makers in Taiwan expects higher profit margins this year based on their revenues last year. The bulk of sales are expected to come from demand for flexible PCBs and IC substrates, particularly rigid-flex PCBs, memory-module boards and multi-layer boards, among others.

Kinsus Interconnect Technology Corp., manufacturer of IC substrates that focus its production on ball-grid arrays (BGAs) and flip-chip substrates, gained 108 percent annual growth in its overall revenues last year.

Meanwhile, among all the PCB makers in the island, Nan Ya Printed Circuit Board Corp., a member of the Formosa Plastics group, made the top spot in the market in terms of revenues with NT$17.35 billion ($549 million at NT$31.54:$1) last year. Unimicron Technology Corp. followed with NT$16.57 billion ($525 million).

Altium releases Service Pack 2 for P-CAD® 2004

P-CAD design system substantially powered with over 130 features and enhancements in Service Pack 2

SYDNEY, Australia – May 25, 2005 – Altium Limited (ASX: ALU), a leading developer of Windows-based electronics design software, today announced the release of Service Pack 2 for P-CAD® 2004, Altium’s PCB design system for layout professionals. Service Pack 2 (SP2) is a substantial upgrade, with over 130 new features and enhancements designed to give greater power and control over the PCB design process. It is available as a free download to all existing P-CAD 2004 customers.

SP2 includes productivity enhancements such as Variants, which can now be defined in both schematic and PCB with full ECO support in both directions. Variants can be created and edited by renaming, modifying the description, adding or removing components, and modifying the attributes of components to be placed with the Variant. SP2 also includes the ability to run multiple instances of all P-CAD applications – PCB, Schematic, and Library Manager/Executive. Furthermore, SP2 provides backwards compatibility support that facilitates staggered upgrades within companies and more trouble-free interaction between internal and external organisations. Efficiency has been greatly improved with layer ordering for printing, and SP2 includes important improvements to copper pours. SP2 also comes with increased routing power due to improvements to glossing and hugging performance and the Specctra/Situs™ Exporter.

In addition, enhancements were made to P-CAD 2004 Bonus Technologies, including Altium Designer’s Situs™ Topological Autorouter, which now recognizes and utilizes class-to-class rules provided by P-CAD and handles P-CAD layer names with spaces in them. Clearance rules are now interpreted correctly, with pad and via rules broken out into separate rules when necessary. Free Pads are no longer converted to vias. There is support for pad styles with zero height and width on top and bottom layers, layer rules from P-CAD, and pre-routed fanouts in components. Split plane nets are now also handled and assigned correctly.

“Service Pack 2 is a significant upgrade for our loyal P-CAD customers,” said Nick Martin, founder and CEO, Altium. “We listened closely to the P-CAD community, addressed their issues, and are excited to make this Service Pack available today.”
