PCB and Electronics News New Scalable OrCAD Technology from Cadence Further Tightens PCB Design Process SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 4, 2004-- Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NYSE:CDN)(Nasdaq:CDN) today announced availability of two new product suites, OrCAD(R) PCB Designer and OrCAD PCB Designer with PSpice(R). These are included in the new OrCAD 10.3 release, which features additional enhancements to the entire OrCAD product line. Offering PCB designers high-performance tools at affordable prices, this latest release to the OrCAD product line continues to deliver enhanced productivity and provide easy scalability to the full range of Cadence(R) Allegro(R) PCB offerings. "We are pleased to see Cadence leverage existing Allegro PCB technology that we have used for the past five years to enhance its OrCAD product line," said Joe Merola, Trueposition, Inc. "Cadence PCB technology helps us address our toughest wireless location design, testability and manufacturability challenges." OrCAD PCB Designer and OrCAD PCB Designer with PSpice are full-featured suites with time-proven and new OrCAD technology. Both feature the new OrCAD PCB Editor, a constraint-driven PCB layout editing tool derived from the Cadence Allegro PCB editor. OrCAD PCB Designer also includes SPECCTRA(R), the industry-leading autorouter and OrCAD Capture(R) for design entry. Capture provides an interactive environment in which to create and edit complex, multi-layer PCBs. PCB Designer with PSpice incorporates PSpice A/D for analog/mixed-signal simulation. Both product suites help small project teams improve productivity and easily expand to the next level of technology to keep pace with their design capability growth. In addition, OrCAD 10.3 introduces new features and technologies for OrCAD Capture, OrCAD Layout(R), and PSpice. "OrCAD PCB Designer strengthens the OrCAD product line by offering a scalable, cost-effective solution for our customers," said Steve Kamin, director of the OrCAD product line at Cadence. "Along with the improvements we've made to OrCAD Capture, OrCAD Capture CIS, OrCAD Layout, and PSpice, Cadence continues to provide our customers with the tools they need to meet their design challenges and bring their products to market." The OrCAD 10.3 release with OrCAD PCB Designer will be available in November. It paves the way for easy upgrade from the OrCAD product line to the Cadence Allegro(R) 200 Series, and on to the Allegro 600 Series, without the need to translate design databases or change use models. Nielsen Technical Services to Provide Personal and Private Responses to User's Questions June 25th, 2005 - Minneapolis, Minnesota - Chris Nielsen, Owner of Nielsen Technical Services today announced that the company would continue to provide support and answer questions asked by those "in the dark" at no cost, as long as the time required does not get excessive. To avoid embarissment and provide personal service, questions asked generally will not be published and the identity of the person asking will not be made public. "Sure, we could publish the questions and answers on our site since it would be keyword-rich and make it easier to create content, but why use our potential clients in such a manner? They deserve our complete attention and we should not be distracted by thinking about how to use their questions and our answers as marketing material.", said Nielsen, when asked if his company had plans to treat users like cattle. "No, for over 5 years we have been answering any and all questions that we receive to the best of our ability and never chanrged unless the time required to answer was more than one should resonably expect, or research was needed. People need to know we will not nickel and dime then to death, and the valuable information we have gained over the years should not be kept "secret". We have found that we gain more by giving our information away then we would ever gain by trying to keep it to ourselves. This is the reason behind our publishing our search engine submission list at www.best-free-search-engine-list.com." "I have, on several occasions, taken to tutoring a young person on what is required for search engine optimization or SEO via email. I would provide detailed instruction and they would do all the work. This provides them with a valuable skill, and costs very little of my time in general. We are now planning a training program that while it may not be free, will be very inexpensive and contain all of the methods and techniques that we have used and refined for the past 5 years." About Nielsen Technical Services Contact Oki's Industry-First Technique Reduces ESD Protection Circuit Design Time by One-Third Tokyo (JCN) - Oki Electric Industry (TSE: 6703) announced on July 6 that it has developed a technique to reduce electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection circuit design time by one-third. This is the world's first methodology that has used Mixed-Mode simulation, which extracts ESD parameters as operating characteristics of internal and protection devices during an ESD. With this technique, design engineers can now automatically design ESD protection circuits, and simultaneously design processes and devices as well as and circuits and layouts. Furthermore, by accurately forecasting the risks of circuit performance arising in association with the process, this method can provide feedback for process and device design, reducing by one-third the overall development time required for protection circuits. Oki's methodology has won high marks for achieving the ESD protection target (HBM2000V and MM200V) for high-voltage drivers for ESD protection circuits, winning the Best Paper award at the RCJ EOS/ESD/EMC Symposium and the ESD award at the EOS/ESD Symposium in the ESD Association. |
